Once a person understands how and why amino acid therapy works, the next question is often “How much amino acid will I need to get better?” The truth is we don’t know, at least not until we get started.
Each person with neurotransmitter imbalance comes in with unique and very specific nutritional needs that must be properly addressed to restore proper neurotransmitter function. In most cases, what we do is begin a person on a balanced amino acid formula and then used specialized testing to determine how to adjust their amino acid dosing until we get them the exact combination necessary to restore proper function.
Usually this process requires at most a few tests; however, some people have required dozens of tests to get their dosing exactly right. Unfortunately, there is no way to know what a person’s needs will be or how many amino acids they will require to restore optimal function. What we do know, however, is that we will find the dosing needed to restore proper neurotransmitter function and eliminate the urges to pull.
